In my previous article Mysterious Technologies of Ancient Gods, I have mentioned the technological capabilities of ancient gods mentioned in the ancient texts, And in the article, I have mentioned the incidents when they had access to controlling time. But this is a totally different story, a story of a person whom those ancient gods feared, a story of a desire, promise, rivalry, a story of cloning the universe that sent chills in the spines of the gods.
This story is found in the Bala Kanda portion of the Hindu epic book Ramayana. Before moving on to the story someone who’s new to Hindu cosmology, Hinduism believes in the multiverse, each universe consisting of 7 heavens and 7 hells, each universe has a ruler or a king called Indra or Zeus (Greek), who’s responsible for maintaining law and order within his universe. They also believe that the soul is different from the body, and the soul does ascend and descend those 14 realms of heavens and hells according to their karma (deeds) in their previous lives, but not with the body of their previous lives.
The story begins with the desire of King Trishanku of the Ikshvaku dynasty to ascend to upper worlds (Heaven) with his human body, though unnatural, still, he approached celestial sage Vasishtha his preceptor to help him with his desire. Vasishta totally rejected his proposal as it was against the law, rather advised him that your soul cannot ascend heavens with this mortal body. Rejected by Vasishta, he approached another celestial sage named Vishvamitra, who had an intense rivalry with Vasishta in displaying their might in the knowledge of the Vedas and winning arguments of different subjects in the court of Indra.
After inquiring his complete story, Vishvamitra agreed to help him ascend heaven with his human body, he ordered his sons and disciples to collect and prepare the requirements of sacrifice to appeal to the gods to help Trishanku's desire. Finally, the sacrifice began, vishvamitra began pouring clarified butter in the sacred fire by chanting mantras (sacred chants), though the sacrifice was about to complete, no god showed up at the place of sacrifice. Angered by this act, Vishvamitra decided to use his ascetic power to propel trishanku to heaven. Trishanku started to rise towards heaven, however, when trishanku reached the gates of heaven, Indra with other gods did not permit this unnatural entry to occur and pushed him back towards earth.
Once gods pushed trishanku back towards earth, trishanku pleaded vishvamitra for aid, angered by this act of the gods, once again using his ascetic power vishvamitra said “stay! Stay!” and he was suspended in midair between upper heaven and the earth. By his yogic power he was able to perceive that gods were against his idea of letting a human into the heavens with his body, he decided to create a new parallel universe with his yogic power and began to clone every star constellations, planets, heavens into his parallel universe, and when he was about to clone new Indra, gods, demons, and every other creature, all gods rushed towards vishvamitra and appealed him to cease his new creation.
The head of gods Indra also pointed out to Vishvamitra that Trishanku was unfit to enter heaven, and it is against the law for a human to enter heaven with his body. But Vishvamitra was not ready to break his promise of sending Trishanku to heaven, so he decided to place trishanku in his newly created parallel universe. The gods too agreed that “let your newly created universe filled with stars and constellation shall exist for eternity, but, please stop your cloning of Indra and other beings in your new universe” when both vishvamitra and Indra were compromised with their agreements they named the newly created universe as Trishanku universe (Heaven).
The above story can be found in the book Ramayana, modern archaeologists believes Ramayana could have happened around 10,000BCE, whereas Hindus believe that it did happen 869,000 years ago. There is a lot of evidence found to support the story of Ramayana, the most notable one is the bridge built by the army of Vanaras between modern India and Sri Lanka also known as Adam's Bridge or Rama Setu can still be seen today.
But the most important note we need to take from this story is the capabilities of those higher beings, till now we assumed that intelligent life might have the capabilities and potential to build flying cities, harness energy from stars and black holes, and a few might have undisputed control over galaxies. But this is quite strange! A divine person is creating a new universe by cloning the existing one, just to keep his promise This is an indication that there might exist a few super-intelligent life forms that can control the entire universe and have the capabilities to clone and create new universes and much more.
